Welcome to the Samsung forum on CNET! Samsung worked with CNET to create a forum where people can ask questions and talk about all Samsung products and get help with everything from HDTVs, Smart TVs, home theater components, phones, cmaeras to monitors and printers. This forum is staffed by Samsung employees, but as we have seen in the past, often the most helpful answers come from CNET forum members themselves so please don't consider this just a Q and A with Samsung. This is a CNET forum and Samsung is here to be part of the conversation. My LNT5265F is no longer under warranty. I am having the issue with the LCD restarting itself 4-5 times before staying on.
After that I have the purple/pink dots all over the set until I manually restart it again. After that it all works fine. A repair center listed the part as part # BN44-00150A, however they are quoting an outrageous price to install it. I can find the part online and would like to install it myself. Anyone have any ideas where I can find instructions to install it or for anyone who has installed it let me know how hard this is to do? Thanks in advance! I bought my Samsung LCD LNT5265FX from Best Buy in June 2007 for over $3000.
I started seeing purple dots on the display on November 17 2009. Then it was purple dots and green vertical lines.
Now the tv takes longer and longer to power up and makes a bunch of clicking noises until the picture comes on. Of course it is out of warranty, but still only 2.5 years old. The dots go away by turning the tv off and then on again.

Samsung tech support claims they have no alerts or bulletins or history of this problem on their LCDs. I told them I'm seeing these complaints all over the internet and Samsung still denies the problem to me. The local service center in Austin, TX also claims they have not heard of this problem before I submitted the service call. He said it would be $65 just to come to the house and look at the tv.
I originally told him I could not predict when the problem would happen, but now it is getting worse. Has anyone gotten Samsung to admit there is a problem and do anything about it? If not, may be we should organize a class action law suit to force their hand. I am not a lawyer. Does anyone know how to get that process going? Please update this thread with any progress with Samsung and repairs. I can't believe that Samsung stills claims that they 'have never heard of the problem'.my goodness.that is just amazing.
We definitely all need to stick together on this and do what needs to be done until this issue is resolved! Go here and post on the Consumer Affairs website as well as there is a very long thread with people having the same issues. It would be helpful if our voices were all heard at one place so that the 'powers that be' can see it. Also, there is the long thread here titled 'ON OFF ISSUES' that has quite a few postings as well. I also purchased my Samsung LCD LNT5265 TV for greater than $3000 in 2007. Approximately in 2009 I noticed white/blue dots/streaks on various parts of the tv screen that goes away when I quickly turn the tv on/off but returns shortly after. Now the tv takes 5 minutes to turn on after clicking a bunch of times.
I no longer have a warranty and I am frustrated by the lack of information regarding such issues from samsung tech support. I will never purchase a Samsung again and hope if this is a common problem with this model that action will be taken against Samsung. Purchased in 2007 had the screen replaced about 1year ago because of perfectly round black circles started developing (under warranty luckily).
Now when the TV is off there is a high pitched sound that drives me crazy. It is also starting to do the purple dots or snow and takes a few tries before it will power on if it has been off for more than a few minutes.
I have never had this many problems with a TV and I spent the extra money for a Samsung because of its high ratings. My smaller Vizio is jut fine. I would expect a company such as Samsung to stand behind their product. Just for reenforcement, I also have this model LCD from Samsung and am having the dots and restarting problem. It's a little over 2 years old and exhibiting the same things as talked about in this forum.
If the power supply is really backordered for at least four weeks as shown on the Samsung site, there really must be a problem. For Samsung not to acknowledge the issue would indicate that it would be too costly for them to rectify the situation. If this is how they handle what appears to be a major problem I may not be purchasing 'any' Samsung products in the future. I also bought the LN-T5265F AND a LN-T4065F in June 2007. 2009 I had the same problem described. Since it was out of warranty, I was referred to a local TV shop. They came to the house and picked up the TV - cost $95.
Final bill was $422 which included 5 capacitors @ 18.90 ea plus $$19.95 for some stupid lubricant and $239 in labor! OUTRAGEOUS when capacitors are less than $5 each and it takes about 30 min start to finish for the repair work. Now I'm having the same problem with the 40' minus the purple dots. After I turn it on and it warms up, it suddenly turns on and off all by itself. Thanks to some help on another forum, I took the circuit board out and discovered 3 blown capacitors, which I had replaced, but that is still not fixing the problem. I really don't want to spend another $400+.
I know I can replace the board for around $100, but could it be anything else??? Hi Guys, I am currantly having the same exact problem you are with my Samsung 52' LNT5265F series LCD TV. My problem started out the same as yours, doing the clicking off and on, but only @ 11 mos.
Old (the warranty ran out @12 mos.), and I didn't think anything of it for a couple of months and then it started to take a little longer to turn on all the way with the picture and all, so I just kept the TV on at all times! Well just last week I pushed the wrong button on the remote and oops there it went, I turned off the TV, and it would not turn back on no matter how loud I yelled at the stupid TV! So I desided to see about how much it would cost to repair the TV, and to my horror found out that it was going to cost me around $500.00 to repair, which is kinda hard to justifiy in these tough times. So I stated to look around on the net and ran across this one person on eBay who told me what the problem was, and what the part number was to the item I needed, and that if I took the TV apart myself, (which is not to very complicated) and sent him the part (the power supply board BN44-00150a) it would only cost me about $70.00 + s&h, to fix it myself! Now the fun starts, I looked all over the net and found a web site forum that has the same subject covered in it, and about 3/4 of the way down the page I found a posting theat has some real good pictures on how to find the power board, and it looks pretty staight forword on how to remove and replace the little pain in the rear power board (and save a bunch of $$$ to boot!) I hope that this link to the site works for you!
If not get ahold of me and send me your email address and maybe I can get it to you that way! Oh, by the way, you have to be registered with that web site to see the pictures, but it is freee!
Good Luck everyone, I hope that this info has helped you like it has helped me!!! Regards, Greg. If your Samsung LNT model TV made clicking sounds when turned on and now won't power-up at all, save your time. I've done the research.
And I'll tell you how I fixed mine. I have a LN-T5271F that I purchased at BestBuy about 3 year ago. For close to 4 months it would click for about 5 minutes and then finally come on. After it powered-up, it was fine.
It finally died about 3 weeks ago and I'll explain how I fixed it. The problem with the faulty power supply lies in a group of capacitors. After extended use they 'blow their top' and become useless. I'm no electrician by any means, but that is the problem in a nutshell and it's not uncommon in these models. If you have a warranty, Samsung will take care of you. If you're in my situation, you have 3 options: Option 1 - Super Geek, but on the Cheap: For about $25 you can buy the capacitors and the soldering iron you need to do the job. You remove the back of your TV, extract the power supply and switch out the pieces.
I'll include a link so you can see the bad parts (they are the same blown capacitors in every LNT model) The catch: you have to know how to solder and it's pretty crowded in there. I decided to take the next option: Option 2 - Look What I can Do. I bought the power supply and just swapped out the whole board. It was about $135 with shipping and took me about an hour to fix. You have to remove about 40 screws and unplug 5 or 6 connections, but it's not too bad. Pretty self explanatory. I took a photo of mine before I disassembled it, but never needed to reference it.
I've never even seen the inside of a TV and I was able to do it. All I needed was a phillips screwdriver and 2 beers. There is a great video on YouTube that finally made me give this a try. And it will show you how to change the bad parts if you decide to go with option 1. I'll link it below. Part Supplier: Good service and delivery, by the way.
Part Number (but search your exact model): CS61-0328-05A Power Supply Board - Main for SAMSUNG LN-T5271F Link: This guy walks you through it step-by-step. Props to him Option 3 - I Like Spending Money, but Too Cheap to Buy a New TV Option: I was quoted $575 plus parts to have someone come out and fix it. And it was going to take two weeks. And as a side note, I told my wife that I was risking life threatening electrocution to save the family 400 bones. Thanks for the info as it saved me a lot of time!!!
Again goes back to Samsung's HORRIBLE Customer Service, they should have told me this and not someone on the Internet. She said it's ONLY on the back of the TV!!! Anyways, called and gave them the serial number, and it was manufactured in May 2007 which is not covered under the 'Known Capacitor' issue!!! Well yesterday the rep said they have NEVER heard of such problem!!! Now the rep said there was an issue with the capacitor supplier for models made between October 2007 to May 2008 and those will be covered for free from Samsung!!!
So I asked for a supervisor and same crap. Only covered if you are under warranty or your SN says it was manufactured between those dates.
I said but just check the internet and there are hundreds of cases of this SAME ISSUE. You are telling me if I have the same bad capacitor issue and it was from the prior faulty supplier, you are not covered??? Anyway I did not make any headways and I scheduled a service call to at least get a quote and see how much it would cost.
This needs to be exposed to consumer groups and Samsungneeds to be held accountable.

With a screen measuring 52 inches diagonally, the Samsung LN-T5265F is one of their biggest and most impressive flat-panel HDTVs. With full 1920 x 1080-pixel resolution, its screen nearly doubles the pixel count of the typical 50' plasma.
1080p is a pixel-perfect match for most current HD material, and looking ahead, it's definitely the way to go. High-contrast, color-saturated images Samsung has been one of the leaders at improving the contrast and black level performance of LCD TVs. It used to be that 'LCD black' was more like a milky gray, but the LN-T5265F's blacks really look black. And if it bugs you when a TV's colors don't look true, put this Samsung on your must-see list. A 'wide color gamut' fluorescent backlight helps the LN-T5265F reproduce 25% more of the broadcast TV color range than standard LCDs do.

The shiny screen surface enhances clarity when viewed straight on, but it also tends to reflect room lights more than most LCD TVs, so this Samsung is best enjoyed with the lights turned low. A wealth of high-def options The LN-T5265F includes tuners for receiving both analog and digital over-the-air broadcasts (antenna required). Cable TV subscribers can use the built-in 'QAM' tuner to tune in unscrambled cable channels without a set-top box.
With three HDMI inputs and two component video, it's easy to add multiple high-definition video sources like an HD satellite tuner or video game console. The set's HDMI inputs can accept 1080p signals like those available from a few of the latest. New HDMI connections enhance remote-control operation Home theater fans love HDMI connections for their pristine picture clarity and single-cable simplicity.
Here's more good news the LN-T5265F's Anynet+ HDMI connections include 'CEC' control capability, which lets you control other compatible HDMI-connected components using only the TV's remote. That's a huge plus if you keep your components out of sight in a cabinet or closet.
